Fifth-Grade French Textbooks
I am responding to a question from Teresa Engebretsen about an appropriate text for 5th-graders meeting almost daily for a French class. I have used a Canadian text:Vive le francais, Promenades 1 & 2. I has activity workbooks & accompanying tapes w/characters the kids enjoy. Two drawbacks are the text is slowly going out of print & the vocab. is very minimal. EMC puts out Exploring French & a workbook. These provide much more vocab. & some culture. Finding appropriate texts at this level is a challenge I have struggled w/ for over 20 years. I welcome any new ideas.
