         <title>NC-AATF RÉUNION GÉNÉRALE À FLANC 2011 </title>

 Samedi, le 15 octobre 2011

Mme Leslie Bradshaw, la présidente du NC-AATF, a ouvert la séance de la réunion générale de l’automne. Elle a remercié les présentateurs de cette réunion, et elle a présenté les officiers du chapitre ainsi que les membres du Conseil Exécutif.

À la place de Mme Natalie Hutchinson, secrétaire du Chapitre, Mme Linda Harling, la vice-présidente, a distribué le procès-verbal de la réunion du printemps 2011. Cette réunion s’est passée au mois de mars 2012 au Cannon School, à Concord en Caroline du Nord. Le procès-verbal a été accepté par les membres présents.

M. Dave Steegar a présenté le rapport du trésorier. Selon M. Steegar, les investissements du chapitre ont subi une diminution d’à peu près $1 200, ou vers 11%, pendant la période la plus récente. Le rapport a été accepté par les membres présents.

Mme Teresa Engebretsen, coordinatrice du Grand Concours, a noté que le Grand Concours aura lieu au mois de mars 2012. Elle a remarqué la présence d’un plus grand nombre de ressources électroniques, et elle a mentionné qu’elle a déjà reçu un paquet de matériaux pour le Grand Concours.

Mme Nancy McElveen, coordinatrice du Professeur de l’Année et du Concours Pédagogique, a invité des nominations de professeurs méritants et des soumissions de leçons en avance de la réunion du printemps.

De la part de M. Alan Singerman, coordinateur de la Bourse Couch, Mme Bradshaw a annoncé que le Chapitre peut donner $3 500 pour un semestre ou $6 000 pour une année d’études en France pour un/e étudiant/e d’une université en Carolina du Nord qui se spécialise en français.  

Mme Jean McDaniel, rédactrice du Bulletin du NC-AATF, a invité des contributions pour le Bulletin.  La date limite pour le prochain numéro du Bulletin sera le 1er novembre 2011.

Mme Bradshaw a noté des dates de quelques réunions  ou événements qui se trouvent sur l’ordre du jour de la réunion de l’automne. La liste comprend

•	La Semaine du français, le 8-14 novembre 2011
•	La Réunion de printemps de FLANC à Asheville, le 21 avril 2012
•	La Réunion de printemps du NC-AATF, avec l’AATSP, au Cannon School, Concord, NC, le 28 avril 2012 [Date changée ultérieurement au 31 mars.]
•	Le Congrès National de l’AATF à Chicago, le 5-8 juillet 2012, “Le Français au bord des Grands Lacs”
•	Des sites web importants:

         <title>BIENVENUE AUX NOUVEAUX OFFICIERS DE LA NC-AATF!</title>
         <description><![CDATA[<img alt="Bradford.jpg" src="http://www.ncaatf.org/Bradford.jpg" width="185" height="139"/>
<p>President Leslie Bradshaw </p>
Leslie Bradshaw earned an AB degree in Romance Languages (French and Spanish) with a minor in Education from Bowdoin College and an MA in French Literature from Tufts University.  As an undergraduate, she spent a semester studying in Avignon, France.  She received a post-graduate fellowship from Bowdoin to be a Lectrice d’anglais at the Université de Clermont Ferrand, where she taught American Civilization and “American” language classes for a year.  She has taught French at both the secondary and collegiate levels over the past thirty years, including 17 years at The Asheville School, where she taught all levels of French and organized many activities for French students.  She has participated in and conducted workshops at professional conferences such as FLANC and NCAIS.  She earned a Klingenstein fellowship in 1983, won the North Carolina AATF Concours Pédagogique prize in 2009, and received  the AATF North Carolina French Teacher of the Year award in 2010-2011.<p>

Linda Harling graduated from Oklahoma State University with a double major in French and Special Education.  She then earned a Master’s of Arts in French from Middlebury College.  She lived in France for six years, completing her master’s, studying and working at l’Institut Biblique de Nogent-sur-Marne.  With her husband she then served for 10 years as a bilingual secretary/translator/teacher in Niger (Francophone West Africa) with the mission board SIM.  After her return to the US, she taught special education classes for three years in Tennessee.  Since 1996 she has taught all levels of French at Covenant Day School in Matthews.<p>

<p>Natalie Hutchinson earned a B.S. in French and Secondary Education from Vanderbilt University.  During her undergraduate studies, she also spent a semester studying in Aix-en-Provence.  After beginning her teaching career, she earned an M.A. in French from Middlebury College.  Natalie is currently the Dean of Students and teaches Upper School French at Cannon School.  She has taught French levels 1 through AP and previously taught at Culver Academies in Culver, Indiana and Nichols School in Buffalo, NY.  She had led school trips to France, including an exchange to Normandy and the Loire Valley, and travels with her Cannon students to France and Spain. </p>

<p>And introducing the new National French Contest Administrator for North Carolina Teresa Engebretsen (who succeeds our longtime award-winning former Administrator, Jane Romer, Professor Emeritus of Elon University).</p>
Teresa Engebretsen has a BA degree in French with a minor in Psychology
from Appalachian State University. While at ASU, she spent several months
in Cannes, France studying at an international school and living with a
French family. She has participated in a language institute at UNC-G,
received an AATF scholarship to study in Chicoutimi, Québec, and has taken
courses at UNC-CH, NCSU, and UNC-G. She has been teaching middle school
French at Durham Academy for 31 years where she serves as seventh grade
level coordinator. Each spring, she takes her eighth grade students for an
exchange with students from Villeneuve-lez-Avignon, France.
She spent from June-December 2008 on sabbatical in Arles, France working
in a bed and breakfast and as a chef's assistant.  Visit her blog at

         <title>Dawn Young receives the national Language Matters Award</title>
         <description>The North Carolina chapter of the AATF is proud to announce that Dawn Young of Charlotte Christian School has been selected as the 2011 recipient of the AATF ISE Language Matters Award.  

This award recognizes a teacher who has done an outstanding job getting students to speak French through motivation and creative methods.  In addition, the teacher has provided authentic immersion experiences outside the classroom for students to practice their language skills.

The award will be presented at the Awards Banquet at the annual AATF Convention, to be held this year in Montreal.  Dawn will also be honored in the September issue of the National Bulletin.  The award includes a cash prize from Intercultural Student Experiences.
